Baptist Children’s Home, OKC hosted the Miles4Smiles Bike Ride on Saturday, June 15. After 19 years, riders embarked on its last ride. This year, 221 bike riders participated in the event, choosing to bike 10.7 miles, 27 miles, 38.1 miles, 50.4 miles or the campus walk. Throughout the course, community volunteers provided water and encouragement along the way.
Volunteer Coordinator, Jim Stewart expresses his deepest thanks, “Fortunately, riders through the years have continued to affirm and support the quality of this ride and the cause it represents. One primary reason for this strong community endorsement of Miles4Smiles is because of the faithful, successful effort of hundreds of volunteers. Many sacrificed most or all of their Saturday mornings for multiple years. An unselfish service rendered that we will not forget.”
He adds, “Please accept our deepest appreciation for the many ways volunteers lifted us up, both physically and spiritually, by partnering with us to produce this great event. Our ride may have taken to the road for the last time, but the memories, the lives touched and enriched through 19 years will spill over into future generations. Thanks for being there for the residents we have served.”
A free lunch was provided at the finish line for all to enjoy. Participants were entered to win door prizes. All donations made went toward meeting basic needs for the children and families living on campus.
